Function and use of literary texts in Nordic schools

In this comparative study, naturally occurring literature instruction in Nordic lower secondary school is investigated order to find out how lessons are organized, what extent different genres read and worked upon, for subject-specific functions purposes literary texts used. Implications text selection by teachers discussed. The study relies on four consecutive video-recorded language arts from 102 classrooms Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden. function use of were means video-analysis statistical comparisons. analysis clearly indicates that plays an important part education. all countries, narrative fiction favored above other genres.
